About Recolor the Past

Recolor the Past adds natural color to old photos and repairs the damage time has done, without turning your family photos into anyone's training data.

Why we built it

Most families have a box of prints or a folder of scans that nobody looks at anymore. We wanted a simple way to see those faces in color again, without handing private photos to a company that trains AI on them or sells the data.

So we built our own engine. It runs on servers we operate in the European Union, your photos are never used for training, and uploads are deleted automatically.

What we promise

• Privacy first. Processed in the EU, never used to train AI, deleted automatically.
• Honest results. Color is an informed estimate, and we say so. We don't let generative AI invent faces or objects that were never in the photo.
• Fair pricing. Free previews, your first full-resolution photo free, then one-off credit packs. Failed jobs are never charged.
• Easy for everyone. Large, readable type, clear controls and keyboard support, on the web and in the iPhone and Android app.
